Back to the 17th century
The 17th century, the Golden Age, was an important period for Westfriesland. The cities Hoorn, Enkhuizen and Medemblik were situated on the Zuiderzee and benefited from the prosperity at the time of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). During this journey you will you discover the traces of the golden age in Amsterdam. In the harbour of Hoorn you can board the VOC ship ‘De Halve Maen’ and visit the ‘Westfries Museum’ to learn all about this significant period. And you travel back in time with the steamtram from Hoorn to Medemblik where the boat takes you, over the former Zuiderzee, to Enkhuizen to complete this Historical Triangle.
