DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT HOTEL
Today you arrive at your hotel. Take a walk along the lake and enjoy the wide space around you.
DAY 2: ENKHUIZEN
A beautiful route by bike or by car takes you over the historical ‘Omringdijk’ to Enkhuizen. Here you visit the Zuiderzee Museum where you will see how people used to live.
DAY 3: STEAM TRAM
Your journey back in time starts in Hoorn where you step on board of the Museum Steamtram that will take you from village to village across the Westfrisian countryside to Medemblik. Here you have time for a lunch or some shopping. In the afternoon the old-fashioned steamer with a fantastic saloon-deck sails along the coast of lake IJsselmeer to Enkhuizen. From Enkhuizen a regular train takes you back to Hoorn. You can also take your bike with you during the journey and cycle back to your hotel.
DAY 4: BIKING
Follow one of the many bicycle routes through the characteristic villages. Enjoy the beautiful views over the meadows and tulip fields. Take a break on the way for a coffee with delicious Dutch pastry and lunch with sandwiches and cheese.
DAY 5: HOORN
In Hoorn you will encounter the history of the powerful Dutch East India Company during the 17th and 18th centuries. You can visit a museum to learn more about about this important and at the same time dark period. The history of the town is not just on show in the old centre, it can also be seen in the harbour. The nicest way to get to know the city is to take a city walk with a guide. The walk takes you past the best spots. After you enjoy sitting on a terrace or go shopping and you end the day with a delicious dinner in one of the many restaurants.
DAY 6: ON THE WATER
Today you may rent a (electric) motorboat and go on your way for a beautiful trip through ditches and canals. Along the way you will pass the best spots for fishing and picnics, and if the weather is nice you can even swim.
Do you prefer sailing? Then you can also rent a sailing boat for a spectacular trip across the lake Markermeer. Sail to Volendam and pay a visit to this characteristic Dutch fishing village.
DAY 7: BEACH
The best place to recover from all the impressions during this holiday is the beach. You can go to one of the beaches along the lake or you you will visit the North Sea coast. On hot summer days you can cool off by the sea and at the end of the day you can watch the sunset while enjoying a drink in one of the many beach pavilions.
DAY 8: TOT ZIENS!
All good things come to an end. Take the wonderful memories of this holiday back home and of course we hope to see you again in Holland. We say ’tot ziens’!
